The 13 Essential things to include on your website
Websites are still essential for Makeup Artists to reach out and interact with their target audience. Websites are your portfolio, and your business card. Along with Instagram, Websites are still relevant to potential clients to “check you out” before they decide to reach out to you.
In order to have a successful website, it is important to include certain features that will attract people to your site and make them stay to look around.
Here are some important things to include in your website:
1. Your brand! - Here is your opportunity to show your potential clients who you are and what your style is. Here is where they will see your logo, your colours and your typeface so you can build your brand to be consistent across all their interactions with you.
2. Easy Navigate: Having a user-friendly navigation structure is key to making sure that visitors can find their way around your website easily. This includes having a menu bar or links at the top of the page, clearly labeled pages and a search bar that allows people to quickly find what they are looking for.
3. Clear and Concise Content: Having content on your website that is easy to read and understand is essential for creating a successful website. Make sure to keep your content concise and to the point. Also, make sure that it is written in a way that is easy to digest and understand.
4. Responsive Layout: It is important to have a website that is responsive, meaning that it can be viewed on all different types of devices. This is critical in today’s world since many people access websites on their phones and tablets. 5. Contact Information: Make sure to include ways for people to contact you, such as an email or contact form, or a phone number.
6. Social Media Links: Including links to your social media accounts will help you reach a wider audience and keep visitors up to date on what is happening with your business.
7. Portfolio. Only show your best work! It is better to have 5 beautiful pics than 20 not so great ones. Remember, you need to keep asking yourself, if you were looking for a makeup artist, would you book you? If not, edit your work. If you feel your current work isn’t reflecting your style and type of makeup you want to be doing, then you need to look at creating that work.
8. Services - make sure it is clear to potential clients and customers exactly what you are offering. Also include here what areas you service, if you are mobile or a salon etc
9. Price List - Opinions differ about whether to add your price list to your website but I 100% believe that this is a great way of stopping clients low balling you, asking for discounts or telling you you are too expensive!!! Cut that conversation right out!

11. Booking instructions and contact details. These are so important to have clear and easy on your website. If it’s too hard to contact you, they will just go somewhere else!
12. About You! - Your customers want to hear about you, your experience and who you are. They want to see if you are a good fit for them. Make sure to include your experience, any awards you have won, anything outstanding about you and your work.
13. Testimonials! Word of mouth is the best way to get work! Always ask your customers for feedback and if you can inlcude it on your website.
